John J. Mara, M.D.
Dr. Mara is
Senior Attending Surgeon and past Chairman (1997-2003) of the Department of
Orthopedic Surgery at
St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He was
Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery in 1987 and re certified
in 1997 and again in 2007. He presently sits on the Board of
Directors of the hospital
He is a magna cum laude
graduate of Boston College and earned his medical degree from St. Louis
University. Orthopedic training was taken at the University of Connecticut
where he concentrated on Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy.
Following graduation from his Orthopedic Surgery Residency, Dr. Mara went on to
do a fellowship in Hand Surgery at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston,
Massachusetts. He has been in practice at St. Francis Hospital since 1984.
John Mara is a member of
numerous state and local organizations pertaining to Orthopedic Surgery. He is
a fellow of the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as a fellow of the
Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American
Association for Hand Surgery. These organizations have in common the
advancement of knowledge in their respective subspecialties of Orthopedic
Surgery and are restricted in their membership to those surgeons who have met
rigid selection criteria.
Dr. John Mara is married and
has three children.

John J. O'Brien, M.D.
Dr. John O'Brien attended
Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts and received his medical
degree from Downstate Medical Center, State University, New York.
He interned at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, and then served in
the US Navy for three years as a destroyer squadron Medical Officer and
at Main Naval Base Dispensary, Norfolk.
Following this, he returned
to Connecticut and continued his medical education as a general surgery
resident at Hartford Hospital, then completed four years of Orthopedic
Residency in the University of Connecticut Orthopedic Program. Prior
to graduation, he also did special training at the University of Toronto
in joint replacement, spinal problems and pediatric surgery.
He has been in full time
orthopedic practice in Hartford at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center
since 1976. He also has privileges at UConn Medical Center, Hartford
Hospital and CT Children's Hospital and Medical Center. He spent
17 years on the active staff in the Cerebral Palsy Clinic at Newington
Children's Hospital.
He is former Chairman
of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at St. Francis Hospital from 1991
- 1997 and holds a teaching position in the UConn Orthopedic Residency
Program.
He is Board Certified
in orthopedic surgery and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgery since 1979. He has held numerous positions in both local
and national orthopedic and medical organizations and currently represents
all the orthopedic surgeons in Connecticut to the AAOS as Councilor.
He has written and delivered numerous papers and presentations both local
and nationally on orthopedic topics.
He prides himself on being
a "general" orthopedist with a special interest and expertise in joint
replacement, arthroscopy and sports injuries, and pediatric orthopedics.
He lives in West Hartford with his wife and three daughters.

Dr. John O'Brien
Robert W. McAllister, M.D.
Dr. McAllister is a graduate
of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Orthopedic Residency
Program. His specialty training includes a fellowship in total joint,
adult reconstruction, and orthopedic trauma surgery at the Minneapolis
Orthopedic and Arthritis Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His
area of specialty includes Arthritis Management, Joint Replacement Surgery,
and Revision and Complex Joint Reconstruction Surgery, as well as Major
Orthopedic Trauma Surgery.
Dr. McAllister is a native
of Connecticut. After high school he spent five years in the United
States Navy. He returned to Connecticut to complete his undergraduate,
graduate, and medical education at the University of Connecticut.
Presently, Dr. McAllister is the Commander of an Army Reserve Surgical
Unit based in Connecticut. He lives with his wife and two sons in
Simsbury, Connecticut.

Nadine Scott, PA-C
Nadine Scott, PA-C graduated from Yale University Physician
Assistant Program in 1990 and received her certification in 1991. She has been
in the orthopedic field for over 15 years.
She is a fellow in the American Academy of Physician
Assistants and a member of the Connecticut Chapter of Physician Assistants.
Nadine is married, has two children, and resides in
Avon.
